The firearms and ammunition market has grown 322% since 2008, topping off at $80.70 billion in 2022 with nearly 400,000 jobs in the industry according to NSSF.

This panel will reflect on industry trends in the EV, aerospace, and defense markets, and the metal fabricators serving those and other sectors. It will also cover recent industry studies, released by the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, that dive deep into operational benchmarking. Ballroom

David Oppedahl conducts research on the agricultural sector and rural development, as well as analyzing business conditions and the regional economy. He directs the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's survey of agricultural banks on agricultural land values and credit conditions and publishes the results in AgLetter—the Chicago Fed's quarterly agricultural publication. In addition to his research, he monitors the regional economy through roundtables and other contacts, briefs senior staff on the agricultural economy, and organizes the annual Agriculture Conference.

Elizabeth Engler Modic has been covering the manufacturing markets for more than 25 years. She began her career with Tooling & Production (T&P) magazine where she held roles in editorial, production, sales, and as marketing manager overseeing T&P, along with its sister publications, Metlfax and Quality in Manufacturing.
In 2007 Elizabeth joined GIE Media as managing editor for the company’s Manufacturing Group of publications. She was promoted to editor in 2014 and editorial director in 2022. Today the Manufacturing Group consists of Today’s Medical Developments, Aerospace Manufacturing and Design, Defense and Munitions, and EV Design & Manufacturing.

Jake Kauffman has been in the manufacturing industry since 2021 after a career in TV news and sports talk radio working in Wheeling, West Virginia and Cleveland, Ohio after graduating from Kent State University in 2012 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Jake began at GIE Media in October of 2021 as an associate editor for their Today's Medical Developments and Aerospace Manufacturing and Design magazines along with their EV Design & Manufacturing online publication. Jake has also served as their webinar moderator and host of GIE Media's MFG Radio Network podcasts "Manufacturing Matters" and "Lunch + Learn" before being promoted to Managing Editor of their debuting Defense and Munitions magazine in 2023.

Tim will be moderating the panel discussion. Tim has covered the metal fabrication industry since 1998, starting his career at the American Welding Society's Welding Journal. Since then he has covered the full range of metal fabrication processes, from stamping, bending, and cutting to grinding and polishing. He joined The Fabricator's staff in October 2007.
